Hi Shoshana,

If you click the name of the sensory bottle (Magnetic sensory bottle, alphabet sensory bottle, etc) there are detailed instructions on those pages to tell you how to make them. I hope this helps!

I really like all the different ideas, but then how do I know how much water to oil/glue/etc to slow the falling objects?

Yes! I totally agree with you. I made one yesterday with the Core bottle and it works great. I’m definitely going to make more someday.

Your sensory bottle sounds absolutely beautiful! Grandparents are angels!! I can’t wait to try one similar to yours.

The first sensory bottles I made for them (1yr old,3 yr old, and 2 5 year olds) were in plastic Voss water bottles. The label peels off with no residue and the water is delish. After letting the bottles dry, I fill halfway with white craft sand, some silver glitter, and shells I’ve scooped up at the beach. Gorgeous results. I hot glue gun the screw top on and gently roll the bottle to mix

Thank you Jane Fagan J

Salt crystal sound wonderful! I would probably just keep them dry personally :).

I want to make sensory bottles for each season and I think Epsom salt crystals can look like winter ice needles.
I was wandering if they can be my “dry” ingredient. Also, what liquid filler I should use? Obviously I can’t use water or they will dissolve. Oil should work fine, but if I want something thicker , can I use hair gel, clear glue or glycerin? Any other ideas or tips?

Hi Michelle, I was thinking this same thing after making my first “ocean in a bottle” yesterday. Then I remembered how I dealt with the issue of water bacteria when making DIY skincare involving water and oil emulsions. I simply added a small amount of the preservative “phenoserve” and nothing icky appeared in my moisturiser for at least 2 years. I bought it from the online Brambleberry shop in Australia and it wasn’t expensive. You can find info online about what ratio to use for what kind of liquids/oils you’re using. I don’t expect this first ocean bottle to be icky free for long but will definately try again later with the phenoserve preservative. I think it will work 🙂
